Ross’s first job in college was renovating the dorms at UMass Amherst, where he was attending classes towards a degree in horticulture. It was grueling work in the summer heat, but the sense of accomplishment inspired him to continue in the building industry.

After graduation, he accepted a job with Marois Construction, where he cut his teeth (and a fair amount of wood) in residential building and commercial construction. He also started his own landscape design business, using his knowledge of horticulture and passion for creating. 

He started Hartman Construction in 1999, using his construction and building knowledge and his horticulture background, to create indoor and outdoor living spaces for our clients throughout the Pioneer Valley and beyond. We are happy to have settled into our new spot in New Salem, Massachusetts.
